Sarah McOnie, Director and Founder of The McOnie Agency, has over 25 years experience in the health and safety industry. Her driving passion for setting up the Agency in 1990 was to communicate a positive image for health and safety and make it interesting.

"Health and Safety gets a pretty poor representation in the media although ultimately it is there to protect and save life, says Sarah. We believe that if we can make the stories behind the industry compelling and interesting, it will help develop a positive and respected image for health and safety. If, through the work we do, everyone is more aware of how important work safety is, then we are contributing something worthwhile every day.

Operations Manager


Alison has an incredible eye for detail and consequently is ideally placed to be responsible for the strategic operations of The McOnie Agency.

Her role is diverse and she is responsible for HR, Finance and Operations. She also runs the agency’s busy Events department and together with her team has successfully delivered numerous pan-European hospitality events, exhibitions, seminars and symposia.

Account Manager


Harriet moved back agency-side to The McOnie Agency in August 2007, from leading London law firm CMS Cameron McKenna, where her role involved external and internal communications.

Harriet has worked in UK and European Communications and PR for over seven years, with a range of blue chip clients, incorporating a blend of experience in PR and internal communications. She is currently on maternity leave until later in 2010.

Account Executive


As the youngest member of the team, Stephanie brings youth, vitality and an inquisitive mind to The McOnie Agency. Stephanie graduated from the University of Portsmouth in 2008 with a degree in Media Studies and joined The McOnie Agency to kick start a career in PR later that same year.

Stephanie’s role as an Account Executive is a busy one juggling several clients and campaigns at the same time. Phew!

Joanne runs the day to day accounts of The McOnie Agency, dealing with all Sales and Purchase Ledger, Credit Control and all internal accounting procedures. Joanne has over 10 years experience in business accounting and enjoys the daily challenges that are part of this key position.

Account Manager


Pauline is an experienced Communications Manager having worked both in-house and as a consultant for some of the UK’s leading business organisations including cable TV and communications company NTL.

Pauline's experience and expertise lies in providing creative and effective campaigns that gain coverage for even the most difficult of topics and manages PR for Arco, British Safety Council, Laerdal and Semmco.

Before joining The McOnie Agency, Rebecca was an Account Manager handling a diverse range of corporate clients and projects within the property industry.

With a passion for PR, Rebecca works with BSIF, 3M, IIRSM and The Emergency Services Show to ensure 'safety really is the topic'. She is enjoying finding out the truth behind the health and safety myths so often in the press and is pleased that more and more companies and individuals are embracing health and safety advice.

Account Executive


Carolyn is a busy Account Executive for The McOnie Agency and has worked here for more than 6 years. Prior to that she worked for The Association of British Travel Agents, the National Training Board and a local design agency.

Carolyn offers The McOnie Agency’s clients an in-depth knowledge of the safety industry coupled with excellent organisational skills. Our clients can always rely on Carolyn to just get things done and she can often be juggling several different projects at the same time.

Wendy Hennem

Business Development Manager


Wendy joined The McOnie Agency in 2008 after several years as a Marketing Consultant for the SME market and the Financial Services sector. Prior to this she held senior Marketing roles at The AA and Standard Life Healthcare.

Wendy’s areas of expertise cover Brand, Direct Marketing and Marketing Strategy. She is responsible for both Business Development and Marketing for The McOnie Agency and enjoys the interactive and creative side of the job.
