British Safety Council Annual Survey

'Safe & Sound' Survey

Each year the British Safety Council questions more than 1,000 employees and business leaders across the UK about their attitudes and practices concerning the environment, health and safety in the workplace.

During 2009 the focus was on the affect the economic climate may have on attitudes to health and safety by Britain's bosses and whether the need to cut back on expenditure would be levelled at good old health & safety? The BSC's survey revealed that not only were the vast majority of businesses not cutting back on safety and training, but, more surprisingly that Directors were prepared to cut back on their bonuses to ensure that valued health and safety training could still take place.
